Growth-Suppressing Effects

In the first large-scale commercial study of its kind, the growth-suppressing effects of swine respiratory disease (SRD) in pigs fed a diet low in soybean meal were compared to those fed higher levels of soybean meal.

Results showed a 9.5% improvement in ADG and a 7.7% improvement in feed efficiency with the high-soybean meal diet.

Reduced Mortality

In a 6,000-pig study in two large production companies, feeding higher soybean meal levels was positively related to reduced mortality during the late nursery and early grower periods.
